With many schools in Ipswich unable to meet demand for the number of applications it receives, parents in some areas being left to rely on their second choices.

The problem is causing the boundaries of catchment areas to change and class sizes to increase as schools do their best to offer as many youngsters a place as possible.

Willows Primary School in Downing Close is working with Suffolk County Council to tackle the problem, and has recently lodged a planning application to build more classrooms and employ more teachers.
