Segmenting and blending to read

When sounding out words, your child needs to look for the learnt graphemes (single letters sounds eg j, w, x), digraphs (2 letter sounds eg ai, ee, oa) and trigraphs (3 letter sounds eg igh, air) in each word in order to sound out and blend accurately.

The video demonstrates a child identifying sounds in the words in order and then blending those sounds together to read the words.
